Call Before You Dig

It's the law! You must call the Indiana Underground Plant Protection Service at 1-800-382-5544 at least two working days before you dig. IUPPS does not mark the lines, but will contact the necessary utility providers who will do the locating.

Please be prepared to provide the following information when calling IUPPS:

National 3 Digit Dialing:

On May 18, 2004 the FCC will institute a national 3 digit number to contact the One Call center to report excavation activities. The new national number will most likely be 811, and will take some time for this to take place so please call their current number at 800-382-5544.

2 Foot Safety Zone:

It is unlawful to use any type of mechanized equipment two feet on either side of the marked buried underground line.
